Rain, rain go away…

Last weekend was a whirlwind of highs and lows.

Friday felt like a lucky break—the storm cleared, the sun made its grand return, and the first four hives were installed without a hitch. Easy. Smooth. Exactly the way you hope a bee installation will go.

Then came Saturday. And with it, disaster.

Halfway through the second round of installations, the sky turned dark, the wind picked up, and before I could even process what was happening, the rain wasn’t just rolling in—it was pounding down in a relentless downpour. Miserable doesn’t even begin to describe it. I was drenched. The bees were stressed. The whole thing felt like a battle. But through sheer determination, we pushed through. And somehow, I only suffered one sting. I’ll take it as a small win.

Now, with the hives settled in, there’s a deep sense of relief. The heavy lifting is done, but the real work begins. This week, I’ll be checking on their feed—just waiting for a break in this chaotic weather.

Excitement is an understatement for how I feel about this season. I truly am eager to share the magic of bees with the incredible people who signed up for my Adopt a Hive program. I’m hopeful for a strong honey harvest (fingers crossed!), and most of all, I’m ready for warm summer days spent listening to the hum of the hive.

Here’s to the season ahead—may it be sweet.
